Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Tuesday expressed solidarity with Qatar after Iran's retaliatory strikes on a US airbase in the Gulf state.

"Met the Ambassador of Qatar this morning to express our solidarity with His Highness the Amir and the brotherly people of Qatar following last night’s attacks," Sharif said in a post on X.

The meeting took place hours after US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire, announcing an end to "THE 12 DAY WAR."

"We call for the safety and security of our Qatari brothers and sisters, and the entire region. Pakistan has always advocated dialogue and diplomacy as the only path to lasting peace in the Middle East," Sharif added.

Sharif also met Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al Malkiy to discuss the situation in the Middle East.

"I conveyed my prayers and good wishes for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as for my dear brother His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince & Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia," Sharif said in a separate post.

He reaffirmed Pakistan's "unwavering" solidarity with the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia, adding that Islamabad will continue to work closely with Riyadh for peace in the region through dialogue and diplomacy.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry also expressed "its deep concern and alarm at the serious escalation in the security situation in the region," as a result of Iran's attacks against the US base.

In a statement, the ministry condemned "the recent violations of the principle of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries," while also calling on countries to adhere to international law.

Pakistan urged dialogue, diplomacy and de-escalation.

Islamabad has earlier condemned the US and Israel over attacks on Iran.

Iran launched a barrage of missiles at the US military’s Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday, marking a dramatic escalation in tensions following the US targeting of three Iranian nuclear sites Sunday.

The US attacks were the latest escalation in the Israeli military assault on Iran since June 13, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory attacks.
