BISHKEK, Kygrgzstan

The chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet on Thursday was hospitalized due to chest pain and hypotension.

In a written statement, the government said that Akylbek Japarov felt unwell and was taken to a hospital in the capital Bishkek.

After an examination, Japarov was diagnosed with coronary heart disease, and doctors decided he should stay at the hospital. No duration for his stay was given.

Japavov has served at the post since last October, replacing Ulukbek Maripov, who had served since that May.

Maripov was the first to fill the post, which was established after the Central Asian nation eliminated the post of prime minister. Maripov was also Kyrgyzstan’s last premier.
