KARACHI, Pakistan

Scores of Pakistani journalists rallied in the port city of Karachi on Saturday to denounce "deliberate" attacks on media in Gaza, calling on the UN to work to stop Israeli aggression against media.

Carrying banners and placards plastered with pictures of journalists killed in Israeli airstrikes, protesters gathered outside the Karachi Press Club.

The rally was organized by the Karachi Union of Journalists and attended by various journalist organizations.

"Stop silencing truth in Gaza", "We are one – Pakistani journalists stand with Palestinian journalists", "End Israeli war crimes in Gaza" were the slogans raised by protesters.

Addressing the rally, Karachi Press Club President Saeed Sarbazi criticized the Western media for portraying a "one-sided" picture vis-a-vis the ongoing conflict, "concealing Israeli aggression against media."

"The Western media is so much in complicit with Israel that it cannot even name the killer of its own reporters," Sarbazi fumed.

Shoiab Ahmed, secretary general of the Karachi Press Club, urged international media, especially Western press, to "adhere to journalistic ethics and report on the war crimes committed by occupation forces, which are supported by their Western allies."

At least 10 journalists have been killed in Palestine in Israeli attacks on Gaza over the last week.
