Search and rescue operation launched in Assam state

An Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter aircraft went missing in northeastern state of Assam, according to a statement.
"An IAF Su-30 MKI is reported overdue," the Indian Air Force wrote on US social media company X.
It said the aircraft had taken off from Jorhat in Assam and was last in contact at 7.42 pm local time (1412GMT).
The air force said "details are being ascertained," and a search and rescue mission was initiated.
