Police van targeted during terror attack in Dera Ismail Khan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan
At least four police officers were killed and three others wounded on Tuesday in a terrorist attack in northwestern Pakistan, an official said.
"Terrorists opened fired at a police van during routine patrol in Mahra area of Dera Ismail Khan," Waqar Khan, a local police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media, told Anadolu Agency on the phone.
Confirming the death toll, he said, a local station house officer was in critical condition.
The injured have been shifted to a hospital.
Meanwhile, a search operation in the area has been underway.
Dera Ismail Khan, a northwestern district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has witnessed dozens of terrorist attacks in the last few years.
