A special event to introduce historical and touristic sites in Turkey, as well as Turkish cuisine and culture, was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital, on Wednesday.

The gathering, which was organized at Sarksinaslik University, was attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Uzbekistan Olgan Bekar, embassy staff, and officials from Turkish institutions in the country.

Gulcehre Rihsiyeva, the university's rector, said Turkey and Uzbekistan enjoy deep-rooted relations that have reached new heights in recent years.

Underlining that they are in close cooperation with Turkish universities, she said they aim to introduce Turkish culture and traditions to Uzbek students.

The Turkish ambassador said the two countries have a brighter future ahead of them, referring to improvements in every field.

Bekar added that the friendship between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also paved the way for improving bilateral relations.

Guests were served Turkish cuisine throughout the event, which featured presentations on Turkey's historical and touristic attractions.

Uzbek students mingled with officials of the Tashkent Embassy and Turkish businesses as part of the event.
