China's top diplomat calls for 'upholding equality among civilizations’ as 'bond of peace'

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday called for “upholding equality among civilizations,” proposing to advance dialogue as a “bond of peace.”
Wang made the remarks commemorating the 1st International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations, according to a statement from China's Foreign Ministry.
“Dialogue among civilizations is a bond of peace,” Wang said, underscoring that dialogue “helps bridge divides and eliminate prejudice, which will reinforce the basis for mutual trust and safeguard common security.”
The top diplomat called for “upholding equality among civilizations,” stressing the importance of respecting the development paths and social systems of other countries and standing against “interference into others’ internal affairs.”
"We should facilitate exchanges among civilizations," Wang said, advocating for gaining insight through conversations between civilizations to tackle global issues and expand the options for global development.
He also called for utilizing new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and other innovations to continue enriching shared material and spiritual wealth among civilizations.
The 78th session of the UN General Assembly in 2024 adopted a resolution proposed by China and 82 other countries, designating June 10 as the International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations, according to Xinhua News.
