China says it has ‘no information’ on plans to invite Trump to Beijing military parade
Foreign Ministry responds to reports of possible invitation to US President Donald Trump for Sept. 3 event

ISTANBUL
China’s Foreign Ministry said Monday it does “not have any information” about reports that US President Donald Trump will be invited to a military parade in Beijing later this year, according to state media.
Japan’s Kyodo News reported Sunday that China was planning to invite Trump to a military parade at Tiananmen Square on Sept. 3 to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
“Regarding the specific question you mentioned, I currently do not have any information to provide,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ming told reporters in Beijing when asked about the report.
Beijing refers to World War II as the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Trump is known to enjoy military parades, having organized one in Washington earlier this month – the first in the US capital since 1991.
According to Kyodo News, Washington has also proposed that Chinese President Xi Jinping visit the US in September during the UN General Assembly in New York.
There has been no reaction to the report from Washington yet.
Over the weekend, Nikkei Asia reported that US officials “are drawing up plans” for Trump’s visit to China later this year. The trip is expected to include a delegation of dozens of CEOs.
The world's two largest economies confirmed a trade deal framework last week after several rounds of negotiations in Geneva and London.
