Afghanistan inks $220 million investment with Qatri company

KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) - Afghanistan inked a $220 million agreement Thursday with a Qatari company to invest in a key cement project in eastern Parwan province, according to an official.

It will produce 1.5 million tons of cement annually with the plant in Jabal Al-Saraj district during the 30-year term of the deal, spokesperson for the Ministry of Petroleum and Mines, Hamaun Afghan, wrote on X.

Acting Minister of Petroleum and Mines, Shahabuddin Delawar, said the investment will provide jobs to 5,000 people directly and tens of thousands indirectly, local broadcaster Tolo News reported.​​​​​​​
