ISTANBUL

At least six people were killed in an alleged knife attack on a kindergarten in China on Monday, local media reported, citing police.

The incident took place in the Hengshan town of Lianjiang city in the southern Guangdong province, said Beijing-based Global Times.

The victims, whose identities have not been revealed yet, include a teacher, two parents and three children, according to the daily.

The Lianjiang Public Security Bureau called the attack an “intentional assault case” and the police arrested a 25-year-old suspect surnamed Wu.

The suspect was said to have used a knife in the attack.

"One of the adult victims had previously hit the Wu’s child with a car and failed to offer any compensation, which possibly leading to the murder as revenge," the Chinese daily claimed.

Authorities said the incident happened around 7.40 a.m. local time (2340GMT Sunday).
