TURKISH SCIENTISTS FIND CURE TO BRONCHIAL ASTHMA WITH STEM CELL

Scientists from Izmir Institute of Technology (IYTE) and Dokuz Eylul University said Friday they found a cure to bronchial asthma by stem cell.
Dr. Yusuf Baran from IYTE told the A.A correspondent that they developed joint projects with scientists from different disciplines on stem cell under the roof of the institute.
Stem cells were cells that could develop into many different cell types and they could be used in fixing organs, Baran said. He said, "we have developed several projects for treatment of several disease through stem cells."
"Asthma is a common chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized by variable and recurring symptoms, airflow obstruction, and bronchospasm. Symptoms include wheezing, cough, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. Although different medicines are used for bronchial asthma, there is no a cure for it. We put forth that mesenchymal stem cells injected into mice with model of asthma are effective in treatment of tissue damage," he said.
