TURKISH DIRECTOR'S MOVIE "BLISS" IN NEW YORK
NEW YORK - Turkish director's movie "Bliss" (Mutluluk) will be on cinemas as of Friday in New York.
The movie will be shown at "Cinema Village" hall till August 14.
Adapted from Zulfu Livaneli's international best-selling novel, "Bliss" tells a story about honor killing. When a young woman is raped, her village custom requires that she be killed in order for the dishonour to be expunged from her family. A young man, the son of the village leader, is given the task but at the last moment he has doubts. The pair go on the run, followed close behind by local thugs intent on killing the girl.
"Bliss" will also be shown in San Francisco (August 28-September 3), Portland (September 18-24), Los Angeles (October 9-15), Frederick (November 3), Chicago (November 6-12) and Palm Desert (December 5).
The movie won awards in; Golden Orange Film Festival-Turkey (2007), Kerala International Film Festival-India (2007),Montpellier Mediterranean Film Festival-France (2007), Istanbul International Film Festival-Turkey (2007), Cleveland International Film Festival-U.S. (2008).
