TURKISH ADMINISTRATION CANCELS GALATASARAY STADIUM TENDER
ANKARA - The Turkish housing administration cancelled on Wednesday Galatasaray sports complex tender.
The administration decided to cancel the tender for the offer was too low. Only one company, "Siyah Kalem Muhendislik ve Insaat San. ve Tic. Limited Sirketi" submitted a bid on July 27 for construction of Galatasaray's Seyrantepe sports complex.
The housing administration said a tender would be held again for the construction of the stadium on August 21.
In August 2007, the Eren Talu-Alke joint venture submitted the lowest bid and won the tender for construction of the Seyrantepe Sports Complex, which will replace Galatasaray's actual Ali Sami Yen Stadium.
The foundation of the new sports complex was laid on December 13, 2007. The Eren Talu-Alke firm committed to build the complex within 24 months.
On July 2, the TOKI annulled a contract with Eren Talu-Alke joint venture for the contractor had not fulfilled its obligations within the given period.
The Aslantepe stadium with a retractable roof panel will have a capacity to host 52,000 spectators, and will approximately cost 130 million Euros. There will be a parking lot for a total of 4,500 vehicles, including a closed parking lot for 3,000 cars.
