TURKEY'S TOP GENERAL SAYS SECURITY PROTOCOL CAN BE ABOLISHED

Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Ilker Basbug had a chat with reporters at the General Staff headquarters in Ankara, and said the security and public order protocol, publicly known as EMASYA, could be abolished since there was no need for that protocol.
"There is an authority under the laws, and laws are principal for us regarding the EMASYA protocol, and it is impossible for this protocol to be over them," Basbug said.
Basbug said what should be done was to draw a line between social incidents and fight against terrorism.
The top general said that the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) was sensitive not to have any disagreement with the nation.
Basbug said the sixth article of the protocol charged the gendarmery and security forces to hush up social incidents, and he totally agreed with that.
The government and armed forces were working together on the protocol, Basbug said.
Basbug also said the armed forces and the Interior Ministry were not in different perspectives in principle.
Turkish Daily Taraf recently published a coup plot allegedly drafted by the 1st Army, aiming to drive the country into chaos with false flag operations.
The General Staff announced that the said plot was the forged and altered version of a routine emergency scenario.
The issue created wide controversy in the media, causing the EMASYA protocol to be questioned publicly, which is considered by some, as the basis of such scenarios.
