Turkey's leading jewelry show opens in Istanbul
The total value of Turkey's gold jewelry exports exceeds 2 billion US dollars in 2012
ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey’s number one jewelry show, Istanbul Jewelry Show October, opened at the Istanbul Fair Center (CNR Expo) on Thursday.
The four-day event will gather over 600 exhibitors from 25 countries with an extensive display of the latest products and trends exclusive for industry professionals.
Aproximatelly 15 thousand visitors will attend in just one day and they are all clients, Chairman of Jewelry Exporters' Association Ayhan Guner said.
"Many countries from abroad are coming here to buy goods. Thanks to this show, we're showing them these goods are being produced in Turkey," Guner told.
Turkey ranking fifth among global jewelry leaders, in production and consumption of gold jewelry as well as its import and export.
In the past 25 years, Turkey became the second biggest exporter in the world after Italy, the fifth largest importer and the third biggest producer after Italy and India.
The total value of exports was over 2 billion US dollars in 2012.
