THY PLANS TO FLY TO ALL MAJOR DESTINATIONS IN WORLD
JAKARTA - Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines, or THY, plans to grow and fly to all major international travel destinations in the next three years, company's chairman said on Tuesday.
Candan Karlitekin said THY planned to add around 20 new international destinations to its flight network which would include cities such as Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Bologna, Glasgow, Salzburg, Vilnius, Bratislava, Colombo, Kinshasa and Ho Chi Minh.
He said these destinations would be launched by 2012.
Karlitekin also said THY increased the number of passengers 10 percent and its capacity 16 percent despite a 15 percent global slump in passengers.
"We have completed the first half with a net profit below previous years but we had tough days in global economic downturn," he said. "Second half will definitely be better."
Karlitekin said THY would not give first-class service but said a new class would be launched.
"Our business class service will go on. We will launch a new class between business and economy which we could call it premium or comfort," he said.
