PROMINENT TURKISH PAINTER WOUNDED IN STABBING
ISTANBUL - Prominent Turkish painter Bedri Baykam was wounded in a broad-daylight stabbing in Istanbul on Monday.

Baykam was taken to a nearby hospital in downtown Istanbul. There were no immediate reports about his health.
Kars municipality had earlier decided to demolish the controversial statue as it was illegally erected in a protected area. A company has recently started works to pull down the massive statue.
