MEMORIAL UNVEILED TO HONOR BRITISH SOLDIERS DIED IN CYPRUS

The British High Commissioner to Cyprus, Peter Millet, unveiled the memorial built by the British Cyprus Memorial Trust at the old British cemetery in Girne in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. 
High ranking commanders from British air, land and naval forces and veteran British soldiers were also in attendance at the opening of the memorial.
On the memorial, constructed from dark-grey granite, are inscribed the names of the 371 British servicemen — 28 members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, 274 British Army, and 69 Royal Air Force — who died in Cyprus on active service between 1955-1959.
