KOC HOLDING RANKS 172TH ON WORLD'S BIGGESTS CORPORATIONS LIST

ISTANBUL - Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding ranked the 172th on an annual list of world's 500 largest corporations released by an international business magazine, Koc said in a statement on Friday.

The Turkish holding moved 14 places up on the list of Fortune Global, with a 44.2 billion USD turnover, leaving behind world giants such as Canon, Walt Disney, Lufthansa, Bridgestone, Oracle, Coca-Cola, Goodyear, Philip Morris, Dupont, Apple, Philips and PepsiCo.
Koc Holding claimed the 19th place on another list of corporations to have the biggest revenue increase over the last 5 years with a 33.8 boost between 2003 and 2008, and the Turkish holding became the world's fifth largest in energy sector.  
The Istanbul-based holding comprises 113 companies, 95,745 employees, and 14,000 dealers, agencies, and after-sales services people in energy, consumer durables, automotive, finance and other sectors.
The group holds majority stakes in Tupras oil refiner, Turkey's largest industrial enterprise, and Yapı Kredi, a major bank in the Turkish banking sector.
