GREEK TENOR AND TURKISH POP SINGER TO GIVE CONCERT IN TURKEY

Greek tenor Mario Frangoulis will take stage together with pop singer Meyra in the Turkish city of Istanbul and Turkish Aegean resort town of Bodrum in August.
"The first concert will be at the Bodrum Ancient Theatre on August 7, and the second will be in Istanbul's Kurucesme Arena," Meyra told a press conference in Istanbul on Wednesday.
Meyra said that she would duet with Mario Frangoulis and was planning to sing six songs together.
Greek pianist George Perris and British singer Frances Ruffelle would also accompany Frangolis in the concerts, Meyra also said.
Best known for his song "Vincero-Perdero", Mario Frangoulis began singing in choirs at the age of eight.
Frangoulis studied the violin for twelve years, getting a first prize at the age of 14. He graduated from the Conservatoire in 1984, and although he did not further his studies, this particular musical training assisted the tenor later on, during his opera studies.
In 1990 Frangoulis moved to Rome where, after a successful audition for the conductor Nicola Rescigno and the renowned tenor Alfredo Kraus, he became Kraus' first private student and travelled with him around the world, studying vocal technique and repertory.
In 1992, Frangoulis moved to New York to continue his operatic studies. In 1994 he was the first Greek to become a finalist in the Luciano Pavarotti International Competition.
Meyra had academic opera training at the New World School of The Arts in the United States for five years, and also sang British songs as she worked with U.S. musicians.
She has sung duet songs with prominent tenors in the world in her third album named "4 Tenor" (Four Tenors) including Turkish singers Burak Kut; Cemil Demirbakan and Ferhat Gocer; and Greek tenor Mario Frangoulis.
