Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will sell its extra electricity to Greek Cypriot administration for six more months.
The agreement on purchase of electricity from TRNC was extended for six more months after an explosion occurred in Greek Cypriot side in July which deactivated an electricity power plant.
TRNC Economy & Energy Minister Sunat Atun said on Tuesday that the agreement was signed on Monday.
Noting that the electricity bill for August, which costed nearly 7.5 million euro, had been sent to Greek Cypriot Electricity Management, Atun said that TRNC would receive the money in coming days.
Greek Cypriot administration transferred the first part of the payment --worth of nearly 4.5 million euro-- on August 12.
On July 11, an explosion occurred at a military naval base in Greek Cypriot side which deactivated an electricity power plant. Greek Cypriot administration has been receiving electricity from TRNC since July 16 to overcome its energy gap. TRNC provided 26 million kilowatt hours of electricity to Greek Cypriots between July 16 and 31.
