ANADOLU AGENCY'S DIRECTOR GENERAL PAYS A VISIT TO OIC'S SECRETARY-GENERAL

JEDDAH - The head official of Turkey's leading news provider Anadolu Agency (A.A) met with the secretary-general of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

ANADOLU AGENCY'S DIRECTOR GENERAL PAYS A VISIT TO OIC'S SECRETARY-GENERAL

AA's Director General Hilmi Bengi, accompanied by the agency's deputy head Tahsin Akti, paid a visit to OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu's office in Jeddah.
Speaking during the visit, Bengi said that OIC had recorded a remarkable progress and gained a significant position among international organizations under Ihsanoglu's leadership.
Pointing to AA's opening a representation office in Jeddah, Bengi said the agency provided news stories about the latest developments regarding the OIC and Arab countries.
Bengi also noted that the agency planned to strengthen its English news desk and to launch news services in Arabic, Russian and French.
During the gathering, Ihsanoglu praised AA's coverage of OIC's activities.
After their meeting with Ihsanoglu, Bengi and Akti visited an exhibition opened by the Istanbul-based research institution "Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA)".
IRCICA, an international institution active in the fields of research, publishing, documentation and information, started its activities in 1980 as the first subsidiary organ of the OIC concerned with culture.
Ihsanoglu was the director general of IRCICA from 1980 to December 2004.
