ISTANBUL
Major US stock market exchanges opened flat on Friday, while the Nasdaq dove into negative territory.
The blue-chip Dow was up less than 10 points, or 0.1%, to 33,796 at 9.41 a.m. EDT (1341GMT). The S&P 500 rose just one point to open flat at 4,131.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq, on the other hand, fell four points, or 0.3%, to 12,055.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, shed 0.1% to 17.11. Meanwhile, the 10-year US Treasury yield fell 1.2% to 3.503%.
The dollar index lost 0.1% to 101.75, while the euro rose 0.2% to $1.0988 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed, with the price of gold adding 0.7% to $1,990 per ounce but silver falling 0.4% to $25.18 an ounce.
Oil prices rose around 0.8%, with the price of global benchmark Brent crude at $81.77 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude sitting at $78.06.
