DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria

US soldiers were seen taking positions on Monday when authorities in the eastern Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor were repairing a bridge for pedestrians to cross the Euphrates River, which had been destroyed by the PKK/YPG terrorist group.

The Deir ez-Zor governorate has begun repairs on the Harbi Bridge, which connects the two sides of the city after being destroyed by the PKK/YPG, intending to restore civilian access.

However, the situation was tense when the US military arrived with four armored vehicles, dozens of soldiers, and two construction machines to observe the repair work.

Anadolu filmed US soldiers taking positions near the bridge and pointing their weapons at Syrian security forces for a brief time.

Deir ez-Zor is divided by the Euphrates River: its western side is under the control of the Damascus administration, while its eastern side is occupied by the US-backed PKK/YPG terrorist organization.
