US sanctions International Bank of Yemen for supporting Houthis
State Department says committed to disrupting Houthi financial networks for 'eliminating Iran's threat network'

WASHINGTON
The US on Thursday announced sanctions against the International Bank of Yemen (IBY) and three of its senior officials for allegedly providing financial support to Yemen’s Houthi movement.
The sanctioned individuals include Kamal Hussain Al Jebry, Ahmed Thabit Noman Al-Absi, and Abdulkader Ali Bazara, who are identified as key leaders or officials of the bank.
State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce told a press briefing that Washington is "committed to disrupting the Houthi financial networks and banking access as part of our whole of government approach to eliminating Iran's threat network."
She later said the State Department can confirm the reports that China's Chain Guam Satellite Technology Company Limited is directly supporting Iran-backed Houthi terrorist attacks on US interests.
“Their actions — and Beijing’s support of the company even after our private engagements with them — is yet another example of China’s empty claims to support peace,” Bruce said.
