WASHINGTON

US Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley on Wednesday renewed calls for the Justice Department to release all files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Pressley, a Democratic member of the House Oversight Committee, said lawmakers are “days away” from a deadline for the Justice Department to comply with a discharge petition and subpoenas seeking the full release of the Epstein files.

"We've been fighting for transparency, accountability and healing for the Epstein survivors. That work continues," she said in a video message on US social media company X.

Her remarks came after the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released a new batch of photos from disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein's estate. Earlier, an additional 20,000 pages of documents received from Epstein. This brings total production to over 95,000 photos.

"There were some photos that were released on Friday. I've had the opportunity to review those things. It is deeply disturbing and provocative, hard to review, but even harder for the victims to experience so much of what I did see and more that has yet to be revealed," Pressley said.

Pressley emphasized that partial disclosures are not sufficient and said survivors deserve the full truth.

“Release the files,” she said.

Epstein was found dead in his New York City jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. In what critics call a “sweetheart deal,” in 2008, he pleaded guilty in Florida federal court and was convicted of procuring a minor for prostitution but did not have to face more serious charges.

His victims have alleged he operated a sprawling sex trafficking network that was utilized by members of the wealthy and political elite.

Epstein’s case has remained a politically charged issue in the US, with lawmakers and victims’ advocates from across the spectrum demanding greater transparency about his network of associates and any individuals who may have facilitated his crimes.

Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein. Their past social and business ties, as well as Epstein’s extensive links to political, business, and academic figures in the US and abroad, have fueled calls for the broad release of official records.
