US Embassy in Bahrain says it currently 'remains closed' over regional escalation
'We will communicate when the embassy returns to normal operations,' says embassy
ISTANBUL
The US Embassy in Bahrain "remains closed for the time being" due to regional escalation, the embassy said on Monday.
"We will communicate when the embassy returns to normal operations," it said on the US social media company X.
The embassy urged those indoors to move to the lowest level of a building, away from exterior walls and windows, while calling on people outdoors to seek shelter in hardened structures or, if none are available, lie down and cover their heads.
It also recommended staying clear of debris after an attack, avoiding demonstrations or large gatherings, and monitoring official news sources for updates.
The US and Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran on Saturday, killing several top Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as regional countries that are home to US assets.
