WASHINGTON

The US State Department approved the possible sale of AIM-9X Block II tactical missiles to Norway, the Pentagon said Friday.

The estimated cost is $370.9 million.

"The proposed sale will improve Norway’s capability to meet current and future threats by ensuring aviation forces’ interoperability with the United States and other NATO members," it said in a statement.

The principal contractor will be RTX Corporation in the state of Arizona, it added.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of the possible sale Friday.
