US President Donald Trump said Friday he would eliminate all fentanyl-related tariffs on Chinese goods if Beijing acts to curb exports of the drug and precursor chemicals used in its production, a day after he cut the levy in half, to 10% from 20%.

Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump said he discussed the issue with Xi Jinping on Thursday in South Korea.

“China’s working very hard and I really believe that they have an incentive,” he said. “As soon as we see that, we’ll get rid of the other 10%.”

Trump also highlighted the broader economic gains from his recent Asia trip.

“We took in approximately $3 trillion over the last few days from the trips that we made … We have numbers coming to our farmers that the farmers have never seen before from China, our farmers are very happy. I suggest that they go out and buy larger tractors and more land,” he said, referencing record soybean purchases and other trade figures.

Earlier, he had said China will immediately begin purchasing US soybeans and other agricultural products from the US, in exchange for no export controls on rare earth minerals.
