President Donald Trump is a "man of action" and "all options remain on the table" with Iran, the US ambassador to the UN told the Security Council on Thursday.

Trump does not engage “in endless talk like we see at the United Nations," said Mike Waltz. "He has made it clear -- all options are on the table to stop the slaughter, and no one should know that better than the leadership of the Iranian regime."

Waltz accused Iran of claiming readiness for dialogue while its actions suggest otherwise. Iran did not immediately react to his statement.

"Well enough is enough. We all have a responsibility to support the Iranian people and to put an end to the regime's neglect and oppression of the Iranian nation," he said.

The statement comes amid nationwide protests that began in Iran in late December. The Trump administration has sharply criticized Iranian authorities' treatment of demonstrators and previously indicated that military intervention remains a possible response.

But Trump lowered the likelihood of strikes Wednesday after learning that Iran canceled some planned executions of protesters. The White House said Thursday that Iranian authorities halted 800 scheduled executions, and Washington is closely monitoring the situation.

Iranian authorities have not released official figures on casualties or detainees. The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), a US-based group, estimates that over 2,600 people have been killed, including protesters and security personnel.
