Trump denies that US approved Ukraine's use of long-range missiles in Russia
'The US has nothing to do with those missiles, wherever they may come from, or what Ukraine does with them!' president says
WASHINGTON
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday rejected a news report claiming the US had approved Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles for strikes deep into Russia.
"The Wall Street Journal story on the U.S.A.’s approval of Ukraine being allowed to use long-range missiles deep into Russia is fake news!" he said on his Truth Social platform.
"The US has nothing to do with those missiles, wherever they may come from, or what Ukraine does with them!" he added.
His remarks came after The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials, reported earlier that the Trump administration had lifted a restriction on Ukraine’s use of some long-range missiles provided by Western allies.
According to the report, the officials said they expect Ukraine to conduct more cross-border attacks using British-made Storm Shadow missiles, which can be restricted by the US since the missiles use American targeting data.
