The White House struck a noncommittal tone about President Donald Trump's views on a peace proposal sent to the US earlier this week, saying only that he is "aware of" the response.

"He's aware of it, yes," spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in response to a reporter's question. She did not share any details on Trump's views about the plan, which was presented Wednesday to a US delegation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that he held "productive" discussions with the American delegation comprised of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. The talks, he said, focused on Ukraine’s reconstruction and proposed revisions to a 20-point plan to end the war.

He said the talks could be considered the "first meeting of the group" tasked with working on a document concerning the reconstruction and economic recovery of his country.

Zelenskyy confirmed that the next contacts between the teams have been agreed upon, noting there will be "no delays" on the Ukrainian side as they work to deliver results.

Asked if the US would send a representative to a planned meeting with Ukrainian and European officials this weekend, Leavitt said the Trump administration would do it "if there is a real chance of signing a peace agreement."

"We feel like those meetings are worthy of someone in the United States' time this weekend, then we will send a representative," said Leavitt.

"It's still up in the air whether we believe real peace can be accomplished and we can truly move the ball forward. The president is extremely frustrated with both sides of this war, and he is sick of meetings just for the sake of meeting. He doesn't want any more talk. He wants action. He wants this war to come to an end," she added.
