WASHINGTON
The US State Department on Friday said it has directed its embassies to report on the alleged human rights consequences of mass migration in Europe, including in the UK, Sweden, and Germany.
The agency cited reports of sexual assaults and other crimes involving migrants in these countries, calling the mass migration an “existential threat to Western civilization.”
“Mass migration poses an existential threat to Western civilization and may undermine the stability of key American allies,” the department said in a statement on X.
The guidance asks embassies to gather information on policies perceived as lenient toward migrant crime and human rights abuses, as well as laws that may penalize citizens who object to mass migration.
The guidance references alleged cases, including grooming gangs in parts of England, a Swedish court case in which a migrant convicted of sexual assault was allowed to remain in the country, and a gang rape in Germany involving several men, some described as migrants.
The move comes amid the Trump administration’s broader crackdown on immigration within the US, which has included stricter border enforcement and deportations.
