Most Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of economy: Poll Anti-Trump protest in Chicago

ISTANBUL

A majority of Americans disapprove of the way President Donald Trump is handling the economy, according to a new CNN poll released Wednesday.

It found that 56% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with Trump’s economic stewardship, marking the lowest approval rating on the issue during his political career.

The poll, conducted between March 6-9, which included 1,206 adults, highlights economic concerns as the top issue for 42% of Americans, far outpacing other priorities like democracy at 19% and immigration at 12%.

About 43% of participants said they approve of Trump's health care policy, followed by 42% liking his foreign affairs and 39% supporting his tariffs.

Trump’s overall job approval rating stands at 45%, with 54% disapproving, with polarized views of his presidency.

The poll also sheds light on public perceptions of Trump’s broader agenda.

A 55% majority believe his administration’s changes to the federal government are aimed at advancing his political goals, while 45% see them as necessary for improving government functionality.

Additionally, Elon Musk, whom Trump has given a prominent role in his administration, faces a 53% unfavorable rating, with only 35% viewing him positively.

The findings come as Trump seeks to sharply reduce federal spending and the size of the workforce. His policies have drawn criticism for their potential effect on government services and economic stability.

Trump regularly accuses CNN of “fake news.”
