Delbert Hosemann, the lieutenant governor of the US state of Mississippi, collapsed Wednesday while presiding over a session of the local Senate.
Hosemann, 77, fell forward from his podium before being assisted by staff and senators, as seen in a video on social media.
The incident occurred as the Senate was taking up blocks of appropriations bills.
Media reports suggest that he is doing well.
Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson asked for prayers on X.
“Hope you’ll join me in praying for Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann and a speedy recovery!” he said.
“It was good to see the Lt. Governor walk out of the chamber,” said Mississippi Senator Briggs Hopson, the local Magnolia Tribune news outlet reported.
