Mexico beat Japan to take Olympic bronze in men's football

ANKARA

The Mexican national team in men's football bagged an Olympic bronze, beating host nation Japan 3-1 in Tokyo 2020 on Friday.

Mexico led the first half 2-0 in the bronze medal game as midfielder Sebastian Cordova converted the penalty successfully and defender Johan Vasquez scored to double the lead at Saitama Stadium in Tokyo.

Alexis Vega made it 3-0 for Mexico in the 58th minute.

Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma netted for his team in the minute 78 to name the result 3-1 for Mexico.

Brazil and Spain will vie for the gold medal in Tokyo 2020 on Saturday.

The final will be held at International Stadium Yokohama.
