ISTANBUL

Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell and his wife Susan Dell announced Tuesday that they will donate $6.25 billion to the investment accounts of 25 million children aged 10 and under in the US.

“If there’s one investment that never stops growing, it’s investing in children. They are our future,” they said in a written statement.

“That’s the belief behind our $6.25 billion commitment to support Invest America, a bipartisan, federally backed initiative that gives every American child under 18 access to a tax-advantaged investment account from birth, one their family can activate and contribute to over time, and one that grows alongside them,” the statement said.

Each eligible child will receive $250, according to the statement.

Beginning next year, the US Treasury will contribute $1,000 to Invest America accounts for every baby born on or after Jan. 1, 2025. The statement said the accounts are designed to be simple, secure, and structured to increase in value over time with market returns.

It added that if funds remain after registration is completed, older children could also be eligible to receive support.
