BOGOTA / ANKARA

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed shock at Israeli forces' brutal attack on Saturday at the home of a Palestinian physician in Gaza, who lost nine of her ten children, by sharing the horrific incident on his social media platform and issuing a call to humanity.

“This image reveals a heartbreaking and shocking reality that should move all of humanity to act,” Canel said on X on Saturday, sharing an image of the woman.

“Those who turn a blind eye will one day remember with regret. There are murdered children and mothers living through the worst kind of hell,” he said.

“How much longer will the perpetrators continue this genocide against the Palestinian people?” Canel asked.

The Palestinian doctor, who worked at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, lost nine of her children in Israel's deadly assault, which also critically injured her doctor husband.

Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing more than 53,900 Palestinians, most of them women and children.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war crimes against defenseless civilians in the enclave.
