5.9 magnitude earthquake jolts Mexico

BOGOTA

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake rattled Mexico, the country’s seismological service said late Friday.

The earthquake took place at 09:06 p.m. local time (0306GMT) and its epicenter was 60 kilometers (37 miles) southeast of San Marcos, Guerrero state at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles), the National Seismological Institute said.

Tremors were felt across the country and no loss of life or property was immediately reported.
