Egypt, Greece discuss 'demarcation of maritime borders'

CAIRO

The Egyptian foreign minister met his Greek counterpart in the capital Cairo on Thursday to discuss a bilateral agreement on "delimitation of maritime jurisdictions" expected to be signed soon.

Sameh Shoukry and Nikos Dendias talked about developing bilateral relations, and ensuring coordination on issues of mutual interest, a statement by Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Cooperation between Egypt, Greece and Greek Cypriot Administration in the fields of energy and security were also discussed, according to Egypt's official MENA news agency.

The 12th technical meeting between the top diplomats of the two states on maritime jurisdictions was held in Cairo in June, and the parties had agreed to continue with the negotiations for an agreement.
