CONSTANTINE, Algeria

Dozens of people were wounded late Sunday in Algeria when a suicide bomber targeted a police outpost in the city of Constantine, according to local sources.

The bomber -- likely wearing an explosive vest -- showed up in front of the outpost in Bab el-Kantara neighborhood, and tried to walk in, the sources said.

When officers refused to allow the unidentified attacker, they blew themselves up, the sources added.

Authorities have yet to make an official statement on the impact and nature of the attack. The area has been cordoned off and an investigation is underway, according to reports.
