At least 18 people were killed in clashes between Arab and Berber tribesmen in Algeria’s north-central Sahara Desert, the country’s official news agency reported on Wednesday.
According to the news agency, the clashes erupted in the Mzab region on Tuesday, leading to at least 18 deaths and numerous injuries.
Interior Minister Noureddine Bedoui has called for calm and urged tribal leaders to prevent further violence, the news agency reported.
