The death toll from landslides and flash floods triggered by massive rains in Nepal over the last few days climbed to 60 on Tuesday, according to local media reports.

The fatalities include 19 men, 26 women, and 15 children, The Himalayan Times reported, citing Armed Police Force (APF) spokesman Shailendra Thapa.

Heavy rain caused flooding in various parts of the country, including the capital, Kathmandu.

The eastern Ilam district is the hardest-hit, with 37 people killed by landslides and many others injured.

Rescue and relief efforts are still underway in the affected areas.

Continuous rain since Friday has disrupted daily life in much of Nepal, causing landslides and floods that have blocked highways and roads.
