ANKARA

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Wednesday the nominees for the 2023 CAF Men's African Player of the Year.

Thirty names will compete for the award, while 20 have been nominated for the CAF Interclub Player of the Year.

The CAF National Team of the Year, the Club of the Year and the CAF Young Player of the Year awards each have 10 nominees.

The CAF African Goalkeeper of the Year for men and women will be introduced this year.

Voting will be held by a group that consists of the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, head coaches and captains of member associations and clubs involved in the group stages of interclub competitions.

In addition to European club stars like Paris Saint-Germain's Achraf Hakimi and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, Galatasaray's Hakim Ziyech and Besiktas's Vincent Aboubakar are nominated for the award.

The awards gala is scheduled for Dec. 11 in Marrakech, Morocco.

The nominees for the women’s categories will be announced later, according to CAF.

Senegalese forward Sadio Mane and Nigerian Asisat Oshoala won the men’s and women’s award, respectively, in 2022.
