ANKARA

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Tuesday discussed the prevailing security environment in the region with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper over phone, diplomatic sources said.

Fidan and Cooper discussed the diplomatic efforts that could be undertaken to end the ongoing conflict and establish stability, according to the sources.

The US-Israeli military campaign launched against Iran on Saturday has killed several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as several regional countries that are home to US assets, disrupting trade and energy routes.
