Eurozone unemployment up to 6.3% in May
Highest unemployment rate seen in Spain with 10.8%, with Malta posting the lowest rate with 2.7%

ISTANBUL
Unemployment in the euro area was 6.3% in May, up from 6.2% in April, Eurostat announced on Wednesday.
On the EU side, the unemployment rate was 5.9% in May 2025, stable compared to April 2025.
Eurostat estimates that 13 million persons in the EU, including 10.8 million in the euro area, were unemployed in May 2025.
Compared with April 2025, unemployment rose by 48,000 in the EU and by 54,000 in the euro area.
In May 2025, 2.8 million young persons – 25 and under – were unemployed in the EU, including 2.3 million in the euro area.
In May 2025, the youth unemployment rate was 14.8% in the EU, up from 14.7% in April 2025, and 14.4% in the euro area, up from 14.3% the previous month.
The highest rate in May was seen in Spain with 10.8%, with Malta posting the lowest rate with 2.7%.
The eurozone/euro area, or EA20, represents EU member states that use the EU's single currency, the euro.
