KONYA
President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Dervis Eroglu said on Friday that the world applied double standards to the Turkish Cypriots and that it was "motherland Turkey who helped the Turkish Cypriots".
President Eroglu visited the Governor of the central Anatolian province of Konya, Aydin Nezih Dogan, on Friday.
Speaking to reporters in Dogan's office, President Eroglu said that there were now two communities in Cyprus, the Muslim Turkish Cypriots and Christian Greek Cypriots, living side by side in peace and with good neighborly relations.
What is missing is an agreement. Despite our efforts, we could not reach an agreement due to the attitude of Greek Cypriots unwilling to reach an agreement, Eroglu stressed.
Touching on the EU term presidency of the Greek Cypriot administration, Eroglu underlined that such a presidency will make no contributions to the peace talks in the island.
