Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday said that he called on all sides to end violence.
Speaking at a joint press conference with the Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil el-Araby in Cairo, Ban Ki-moon said that urgent measures had to be taken so as to prevent an escalation of tension which would lead to worse results.
"I personally call on all sides to end violence," Ban Ki-moon underlined.
Ban Ki-moon stated that he would visit Israel and request from Israeli officials to end the violence and be loyal to international laws.
UN SG calls on international community to support Brahimi's efforts
Ban called on the international community to support joint UN and Arab League special envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi's efforts for a transitional term in Syria.
Ban Ki-moon stated that al-Araby and he discussed the clashes taking place in Syria.
Ban called on the international community to support Brahimi's efforts to establish a political transition in Syria which would include all Syrian sides.
Expressing concern over the continuation of clashes in Syria, disrespect for international laws and the inability to protect human lives in Syria, Ban Ki-moon said that they feared that Syria might turn into a region of fierce clashes.
Ban also called on the international community to provide humanitarian assistance to Syria.
Ban reminded that the situation in Syria got worse and that many Syrians fled to neighboring countries.
