Twenty-six people have been killed in an attack by Ugandan rebels in the city of Beni in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)'s eastern North Kivu region, a DRC military source has said.
Most of the casualties were civilians, including children, the source, requesting anonymity, told Anadolu Agency on Thursday.
On Monday, eight civilians were killed in North Kivu during clashes between DRC troops and the Uganda's Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel group.
For nearly two years, the DRC army has been fighting the ADF rebel group, which has recently extended its reach into the southeastern DRC.
