Turkey supports diplomatic solution over Iran's nuclear program, said Turkish board at Thursday's session of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held in Austrian capital Vienna.
"Turkey is ready to contribute to every effort aimed at finding a solution (over Iran's nuclear program)," said Turkish board in a statement.
The statement praised the work of IAEA and expressed pleasure with the agency's inspection of Iran's nuclear program.
"We accept the right of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes," said the statement, "only if all the countries being a party to the 'Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons' (NPT) obey the terms of the agreement."
Iran's ambassador to IAEA Reza Najafi, meanwhile, said, "We want to speak in the language of 'dialogue', not in embargo," referring to the criticism against Iran's nuclear program.
Najafi reminded that his country had the right of using nucleer energy for peaceful purposes within the context of Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
Stressing that he expected all the parties watch out their their language, he said, "We are excited over the close partnership with Yukiya Amano (IAEA Director General)."
Iran is ready for negotiation with the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, also known as the Permanent Five including China, France, Russia, Britain, and the US, he said.
The IAEA Board of Governors meeting started at the Agency's Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, on September 9, 2013. IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano opened the meeting with an introductory statement.
During their week-long deliberations, the 35-Member State Board has discussed a number of issues, including measures to strengthen international cooperation in nuclear, radiation, transport and waste safety. The Board will also receive an update on implementation of the IAEA Action Plan on Nuclear Safety, review the Nuclear Security Report 2013 and will consider the Nuclear Security Plan for 2014-2017.
At this meeting, the Agency's activities related to nuclear science, technology and applications and nuclear verification matters have been also discussed.
